Moss Da Beast ft. J Boos - I Aint Ask To Be A Thug

On August 30th, 2010 In Nashville. Tennessee, I hosted "Almost There: The Mixtape"by Chicago's own Moss Da Beast, an epic chronicle of street life, struggle, triumphs and success which contained some of the most talented undergound emcees in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee accompanied with some of the areas best producers. Some of these very same producers featured have went on to have major industry success.

As a dj and hip hop consumer for the last 29 years, I always enjoyed the midwest's distinct sound. Hard driving accoustics accompanied by intense bass. G'd up lyrics with that "hood" harmony that made you lean the seat "back" just a little further. I listened to many legends from Top Authority to Twista and the Speedknot Mobsters. This track continues in that tradition.

The track called "I Aint Ask To Be A Thug" is another chronicle of one of the most underrated hip hop artist out. The track is laced with the flawless production of Bandplay, who was also featured on Almost There. It is a gritty street anthem that embodies the sentiment of a hustler who "was born into the life". Also featured on this track is Benton Harbor emcee J. Boos, whose mixtape "Love Life, Hate Nothing" has over 300 streams to date and is an underground classic. It remains in my deck to this day. Enjoy!
